FAQ

Questions about local business schema

What is LocalBusiness schema?

It’s a short block of code, in a format called JSON-LD, that describes your business to search engines: your name, type, address or service area, phone, hours and services. Visitors don’t see it, but Google and other tools can read it.

Will schema get me higher rankings or rich results?

No tool can promise that. Structured data helps Google understand your business and can make your pages eligible for some search features, but Google decides what to show. Accurate details that match your Google Business Profile matter most.

I travel to customers. Should I show my street address?

No. Tick the service-area option and the code leaves your street address out. It still lists your city and province, plus the areas you serve. Leave the postal code blank too if you’d rather not show it.

Where do I paste the code?

In the head of your home page or contact page, or in a Custom HTML block on that page. Many WordPress SEO plugins also have a box for header code. Add it once per page, then test the live page in Google’s Rich Results Test.

Can I add my star rating?

This tool leaves ratings out on purpose. Google doesn’t show review stars for reviews a business publishes about itself, so collect genuine reviews on your Google Business Profile instead.

Do you store what I enter?

No. The code is built in your browser and nothing you type is sent to XMetaSol or saved.
